The Dilnyy brothers on campus at UIUC.

Tomas Dilnyy and his twin brother Ivan just began their senior year at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. One of HEAR’s strongest scholars, Tomas has an incredible work ethic and the academic track record to show for it. We think that the U of I will sorely miss these dynamic brothers!
This previous summer I spent most of my time working closely with the CEO of myFootpath LLC as a summer intern. My supervisor provided me with hands-on opportunities to explore the different sectors of the company. I was given the opportunity to counsel regularly with the IT Department by installing operating systems and other necessary software applications critical for company use. In addition, my correspondence with the CEO introduced me to daily administrative duties and important business operations. This experience enhanced my time management and organizational skills by providing me with projects to closely monitor and evaluate confidential documents and employee files. Furthermore, interacting with other employees was an essential part of my internship as well as it gave me the opportunity to learn about business functions, work culture and potential fields of interests.
Coming from an exciting and challenging summer, I am prepared to return back for another academic year. Recently, I completed most of my core coursework requirements. This curriculum approach has provided me with further knowledge of economic analysis and corporate financial management, through investment financing and operating decision-making. I was able to apply my critical thinking skills to real life assignments such as financial statement and capital budgeting analysis. Moreover, I am excited to apply my experience about business operations from the summer and my knowledge of previous courses to take on more challenging course work. This semester, I will be able to evaluate econometric models with emphasis on statistical theory and economic applications.
In addition to my academics, my membership with Phi Kappa Tau provides me with multiple possibilities to be involved on campus through charity events and community fundraisers. This organization has provided me with the opportunity to improve my skills in leadership management, networking, and organizational communication by allowing me to play an active role in the foundation of our organization. As the academic year starts, I am eager to apply my analytic mindset I developed in my course work coupled with my leadership involvement through campus organizations.
In Orange and Blue,
Tomas Dilnyy
